Cambio y fuera.

Wednesday January 12, 2011
I'm finally heading home tomorrow. The day before yesterday drove to Auckland in the morning and spend the day exploring the city. They say that Auckland is the Sydney for beginners. After seeing Sydney, I might agree to some extent. Yesterday I got up at half past five and took the car to the airport. From there I took the flight back to Christchurch and spent about five hours there. While in Christchurch, I visited the Antarctic Centre for a coffee and took the opportunity to use the internet. I then went back to the terminal to check in for the flight to Sydney. On the way I noticed the C17 plane from McMurdo had just landed. I returned to the Antarctic Centre and after a while my co-workers from IceCube (who were flying on the C17) showed up. The flight from Christchurch to Sydney had no problems. I arrived here as about five thirty and after registering at the hotel (a very bad one indeed), I went to explore the city. Today I also spent the whole day walking around the city. I went to see the opera, visited Chinatown, the harbor, cross the bridge to North Sydney and I basked a little in the Sun during the process. We are in the middle of summer and the weather has been very enjoyable. Mostly cloudy with a temperature of 25 C. Tomorrow I start my flight back to the cold. Well at least it´s not as cold the South Pole but I certainly don´t have the winter gear I had down there. Perhaps I´ll post a final blog when I arrive. Anyway, here end my adventures to the Antarctic.
Over and out.
